This week’s episode of Off The Record celebrated Black History Month with songs strictly from black artists like Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5, Bob Marley and much more. We had our 5-minute news cast with Bryce Johnson and Mia where we discussed upcoming news within our sister branch, Mako TV. We also talked about what happened in the NSU’s Presidential Inauguration of Dr. Harry K. Moon including performances by the Bossa Nova Chorale and many more acts. We continued with our Arts of the Matter segment with Carey Courson where we discussed the 16th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition and as well as events in the Cotilla Gallery like free screening of films like “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in honour of Black History Month. We also had our Campus Life update with Ritchy Laguerre where we discussed the upcoming event Community Fest and talked briefly about the founder of Community fest, Michelle Manley. Sports followed with The Current’s Sports Editor Bella Giaquinto where we discussed the latest in sports around campus like basketball, volleyball etc., while also talking about her article piece which showcases women’s impact in sports! We shed light on Mental Health with an enlightening interview with Natalia Gutierrez who is a licensed family and marriage therapist who works at Student Counseling here on NSU’s campus. Lastly, the pop culture segment shined through with a quick recap about President Moon’s vision in his speech at the Investiture on January 31. The segment was then concluded with a discussion about the Grammy’s and who won in which category and what our thoughts were, where we were joined by Bella Giaquinto, Natalia Vega aka DJ Naty, and Michael Lynn. The episode provided captivating segments that are worth a listen!
