Mako Radio

Mako Radio is NSU’s student-run radio station, bringing you music and podcasts. You can tune in on WKPX 88.5FM Sunrise, listen to our livestream below during our scheduled hours, or check out our “Off the Record podcast.” We also provide DJing services on- and off-campus; just complete the Mako Radio DJ Request form and email it to us at makoradiodj@nova.edu.

  • Alex Hernandez
    Alex Hernández
    Alex Hernández is Mako Radio Station Manager and an international studies and communication student. She is a well-rounded professional with achievements in various fields, including journalism, radio broadcasting, social media management, and activism for menstrual equity. A leader in South Florida’s menstrual equity movement, Alex founded Sirena’s Grotto, a 501 c(3) non-profit organization that provides hygiene items to those in need. While Alex’s primary focus has been on radio, she has also delved into video journalism and social media management. Additionally, she has had experience interviewing celebrities as part of her professional work. As the current station manager of NSU Mako Radio, Alex loves live music and is a strong advocate for music education.

    Jonesia Martimbor
    Jonesia Martimbor, also known as DJ Sunshine, is an undergraduate student. She is the co-host and producer of Off The Record and a remote DJ for Mako Radio. Her hobbies include reading, singing, listening to music and playing with her dog Ginger. She is originally from Sint Maarten and Trinidad.

    Nathalie Marin
    Nathalie Marin, also known as DJ Venus, is a communication major with a minor in music. She is the DJ event coordinator and co-assistant station manager. She enjoys going on air and sharing soulful and modern jazz. In her free time, she loves singing and playing the piano.

    Weston Clark
    Weston Clark, also known as DJ Ray, is a cybersecurity management major with minors in artificial intelligence application and business. He is the music director at Mako Radio. His hobbies include fishing, playing guitar and PC building. His favorite genre is 70’s-90’s rock.

    Zach Mueller, also known as DJ Neptune, is an engineering major. He is an event DJ for Mako Radio. His hobbies include playing tennis and guitar, watching movies and fishing.

    Marlee Card
    Marlee Card, also known as DJ Mojo at Mako Radio, is a communication major with a journalism concentration. With a love for EDM, her music taste spans from R&B, soul, folk, experimental and more genres. At the radio she is both a DJ on-air and for different events around campus. She is the editor and column writer for The Current's music page and contributes to the photojournalism. Her hobbies include spending time with friends, practicing yoga and reading.

    Gabby, also known as DJ G, is a communication major. She works as the night show DJ coordinator but in her free time, she likes to do makeup.

    Natalia Vega, also known as DJ Naty, is a communication major. She is the assistant station manager for Mako Radio. Her hobbies include working out, watching shows and movies, and playing games.

    Amaia Flores is a double major in dance and communication. She is the social media manager for Mako Media Network. She likes choreographing, reading and crocheting.

    Carey Courson
    Carey Courson is a communication major. She is the host of Art of the Matter for Mako Radio and Sharks in the Arts for Mako TV. She is also the administrative coordinator for the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts. Her hobbies include event planning and singing.

    Will Rupprecht
    Will Rupprecht, also known as DJ Rupee, is a communication major. He is the assistant music director/night show host/morning show host for Mako Radio. He enjoys fishing and playing video games.

    Maria Rodriguez
    Maria Rodriguez, also known as DJ Clover, is an international student from the Dominican Republic. She majors in communication and minors in marketing, management, and business. She is a podcast producer and a remote DJ for Mako Radio. She mainly likes working behind the scenes, writing scripts, researching, and editing. Her hobbies include baking, crocheting, and playing Hay Day!

    Ryan Romero
    Ryan "Romi" Romero, also known as DJ ROMI (OH OH YEAH), is a communication major. He is the production engineer and DJ for Mako Radio. Always remember “Todo Es Alegría,” “Everything Is Joyful!”

    Ashianna Trivedi, also known as DJ Lyric, is a neuroscience major. She is a DJ at Mako Radio and loves pop/indie music. Her hobbies include reading, spending time with friends and listening to new albums.

    Meadow Gallegor, also known as DJ Onyx, is a medical sonography major in with minors in studio art and dance. She is an evening show DJ for Mako Radio. She likes to draw, paint, read, watch shows, dance, and do tarot readings.

    Maritza Louis, also known as DJ Lush, is a sophomore industrial engineering major. She is both a production engineer and an event DJ for Mako Radio. She enjoys going on air and sharing her love of R&B, soul, afrobeats, folk and indie with her listeners. Her hobbies include playing guitar, skateboarding, drawing and hanging out with her friends and family!

    Ash, also known as DJ Moony, and is a freshman communication major. Ash is the music director for Mako Radio and likes playing ukelele, video editing and going to concerts.
