Mako Radio

Mako Radio is NSU’s student-run radio station, bringing you music and podcasts. You can tune in on WKPX 88.5FM Sunrise, listen to our livestream below during our scheduled hours, or check out our “Off the Record podcast.” We also provide DJing services on- and off-campus; just complete the Mako Radio Remote Request form and email it to us at makoremotes@nova.edu.

  • Alex Hernandez
    Alex Hernández
    Alex Hernández is Mako Radio Station Manager and an international studies and communication student. She is a well-rounded professional with achievements in various fields, including journalism, radio broadcasting, social media management, and activism for menstrual equity. A leader in South Florida’s menstrual equity movement, Alex founded Sirena’s Grotto, a 501 c(3) non-profit organization that provides hygiene items to those in need. While Alex’s primary focus has been on radio, she has also delved into video journalism and social media management. Additionally, she has had experience interviewing celebrities as part of her professional work. As the current station manager of NSU Mako Radio, Alex loves live music and is a strong advocate for music education.

    Jonesia Martimbor, also known as DJ Sunshine, is a second-year biology student. She is the co-host and producer of Off The Record and a remote DJ for Mako Radio. Her hobbies include reading, singing, listening to music and playing with her dog Ginger. She is originally from Sint Maarten and Trinidad.

    Estela Bruno, also known as DJ Vibez, is a senior music major. She is the production engineer for Mako Radio. Her hobbies include playing games, watching movies and reading.

    Nathalie Marin, also known as DJ Venus, is a junior communication major. She is the remote coordinator for Mako Radio. Her hobbies include singing and playing piano.
