The theatre program, under the Department of Communication, Media and the Arts, will present Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap.” The play will run from Friday, Nov. 18, through Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Black Box Theatre in the Don Taft University Center.
“The Mousetrap” is a mystery that follows the news of a local woman’s murder. Seven strangers at the Monkswell Manor find themselves stranded during a snowstorm, while suspicion grows that the killer is among them.
“‘The Mousetrap’ holds the world record for the longest run of a play,” said Bill Adams, the director for the music and theatre programs. “Through this commercially successful piece of theatre history, our students learn to work with a world-famous female playwright, Agatha Christie, while embodying iconic characters and practicing their British dialect.”
Daniel Gelbmann, associate professor in the Department of Communication, Media and the Arts, oversaw drafting the set design for the play. Gelbmann noted that students can look forward to enjoying a classic murder mystery, with a great cast in period costumes.
“The Mousetrap” will be available for viewing free of charge for the NSU community on Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The play opens to the public on Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 20 at 2p.m. on a first come, first serve basis.
